Major Professional Associations Choose The Berndt Group
August 12, 2009
BALTIMORE, MD—Although The Berndt Group has a venerable history of great work for large nonprofits, in the last three years we've seen a major upsurge in interesting projects for professional association clients.
We attribute this to the particular needs of those organizations: having large amounts of content, they are typically in need of Content Management (CMS) and governance best practices. Having diverse memberships, they need careful approach to market and skilled understanding of self-service strategies. And, since associations typically use some form of association management software (AMS), they need a developer who is technically solid, does that work in house, and knows the relevant best practices for those products.
As a result, we've recently had the pleasure to do great ongoing work for the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) (the new site launched in June 2009), the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) (site to tentatively launch in late summer/fall 2009) , the American Trauma Society (ATS), and many others.
And, very recently, we've added two new major association clients: the American Montessori Society (AMS), and the Maryland State Teachers Association (MSTA) - as of September 1, the organization is rebranding as the Maryland State Education Association (MSEA). The new sites for AMS and MSEA are both currently in progress.
Richard A. Ungerer, Executive Director, American Montessori Society, commented, "The American Montessori Society is pleased to have selected The Berndt Group for our web site redevelopment project, which is the most significant communications initiative in the 50-year history of our organization. Throughout a rigorous and competitive proposal review process, they demonstrated a unique and exciting combination of both breadth and depth: breadth of creative and technical resources and depth of knowledge and experience. We are confident that TBG will be delivering to us a visually rich, engaging, and functional end product while simultaneously helping us develop a better understanding of how our enhanced web presence can advance our mission and provide new and powerful tools for delivering services to our members and the public."
As usual, our focus in these projects for associations is holistic, finding solutions that span the areas of web strategy, design and usability, technology selection implementation, and, importantly integration with web operations. With all these best practices, what's next for redesign, the Association of International Super-Star Web Developers? Only time will tell.
John Berndt, Founder and CEO of The Berndt Group, stated, "We have a long history with associations, but we've experienced great expansion in this vertical in recent years. I think associations particularly appreciate our track record deploying high content sites with CMS best practices, and the fact that we understand the culture and challenges of nonprofits."
